I started this blog when my husband and I were expecting our first child to document my pregnancy and warn people of all the things nobody tells you about. Then it followed our family's journey through secondary infertility. It turns out I forgot as much as I learned. One might think that motherhood has softened me... One would be wrong.

This magic moment
It's past midnight. I just had to email my boss to say I won't be in tomorrow because my kid is ill. It's now, as I lay in a bed with this sick, pukey little girl that I know I have never loved anyone more in my life. This parenting gig... It's gross. It's really, really gross. But every trial, every tribulation is just so worth it. Even when it smells really bad.

Aw, poor little parasite. I know the feeling though, sick and all, they are the loves of our lives. Hope she feels better soon.
I have a question about this. Do you say your kid is sick and do they take a "sick" day or a banked day. I have discovered not to say that my child is sick, but that I AM, so I can have a sick day instead of having to take a "banked day".
@Alana, thanks. The poor little thing spent the afternoon curled up on the couch watching movies before asking to go to bed early. I didn't mind the cuddles, but hope she's on the mend.
@Kyla, I say who is sick because I very well may catch whatever it is she has so I want to make sure I have sick time for me when I need it. I'm lucky enough to have an understanding manager with kids of her own. The deal is basically be online responding to work emails to keep my projects going as much as I can, and make up the lost time later. Which I will be doing over the weekend.
I hope your household is healthy soon.
I'm enjoying having adult children, and all of the gross is behind me; however, it's lonely since they all moved out. It makes seeing the kids special.
